I’m a consultant, editor, writer, proposal professional, and project support person whose work has never fit neatly into one box.
Since 2003, I’ve worked independently with small businesses, federal contractors, executives, subject-matter experts, and teams spread across multiple companies and locations. My work includes federal proposals, program and project support, document management, editing, quality assurance, procedures, research, and the many moving parts that have to come together before something is truly finished.
I’m often the person making sense of the requirements, noticing what’s missing, organizing complicated information, and helping the final work become clearer, stronger, and complete.
I’ve also been writing on the web since 2001. I’m the author of three books and continue to write articles, newsletters, books, and workbooks. I occasionally work with longtime coaching clients, though coaching is no longer the primary focus of my business.
I worked, consulted, and published as Debra Smouse for many years, and Debra Smouse remains my registered business name in Ohio. I now use Debra O’Connor professionally while continuing to write and publish as Debra Smouse.
The work hasn’t changed. I’m simply creating a professional home that makes room for all of it.
